
Senior Director, Community Bioeconomy Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Design and enhance robust financial solutions that benefit Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs).
• Drive WWF’s strategy to mobilize, structure, and provide guidance to stakeholders on financing that bolsters community-led bioeconomy enterprises.
• Implement, assess, and improve innovative community finance models.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with Indigenous leaders and community organizations.
• Mobilize catalytic capital to experiment with and expand community finance models.
• Conduct feasibility assessments and analyze enabling conditions.
• Assist in negotiating and finalizing financing agreements with governments and NGOs.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in development finance, impact investment, project finance, or related areas that intersect conservation and community economic development.
• An advanced degree in economics, finance, economic development, management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in strengthening or collaborating with local financial institutions (e.g., SACCOs, community funds, credit unions, rural banks).
• Experience in designing blended finance structures and/or catalytic capital mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with terrestrial or ocean-based bioeconomy enterprises in developing country settings.
• Strong capability to work inclusively with Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
• Experience in building multi-stakeholder partnerships across public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
• Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in entrepreneurial and dynamic institutional environments.
• Strong program management skills.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred.
