Senior Director, Communications

📋 Description

• Act as the senior strategic advisor to the Chief Experience Officer at SNHU.

• Direct the communication strategy for significant institutional initiatives within Student Experience, including change efforts and leader communications.

• Provide expert guidance on narrative framing, strategic messaging, and risk management.

• Oversee communication outcomes within the assigned portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment, effectiveness, and partner experience.

• Manage a team by offering coaching, feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.

• Establish the strategic direction for the Student Experience advocate function.

• Guarantee consistency, quality, and adherence to advocate best practices and OEAC standards.

• Balance workload and allocate resources within the portfolio in collaboration with OEAC partners.

• Lead the creation of comprehensive communication plans, message architecture, and key narratives for major initiatives.

• Ensure high-quality execution and that communications are audience-centered, clear, and strategically aligned.

• Take charge of or assist with crisis communications and executive messaging as necessary.

• Assess strategies, messages, and channels through data, feedback, and insights.

• Recognize improvements and disseminate learnings to enhance OEAC practices.

• Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of communication experience, including the development and leadership of communication strategies in student services, customer experience, contact centers, enrollment, retention, or other high-volume service environments.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

• Proven expertise in strategic communications, executive communications, and organizational change.

• Demonstrated experience in people leadership, including supervision, coaching, and mentoring.

• Outstanding writing, storytelling, and narrative framing capabilities.

• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

• Ability to effectively engage with diverse constituencies.

• Must reside in and work from one of the states approved in the posting.

• A reliable internet connection is required.
