
Senior Director, Accounting Finance Transformation – Technology Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Set the strategic direction and operational framework for the transformation of technology accounting in collaboration with an external partner.
• Oversee the modernization, governance, and execution of accounting processes that support the technology ecosystem.
• Take charge of enterprise transformation in areas including technology accounting, financial systems, controls, policy, reporting, and data-driven decision support.
• Develop accounting policies, design processes, manage controls, and ensure operational accountability for technology accounting functions.
• Lead cross-functional transformation efforts with teams from Technology, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Tax, Internal Controls, Audit, and business executives.
• Create scalable workflows for purchasing, project intake, capitalization assessment, cost classification, accruals, amortization, impairment review, and reporting.
• Provide guidance to senior leadership regarding accounting implications of cloud migrations, ERP improvements, platform modernization, AI tools, cybersecurity initiatives, data infrastructure, and enterprise software implementations.
• Convert technology strategies into accounting requirements, governance frameworks, decision-making models, and repeatable processes.
• Drive system-enabled process enhancements across ERP, procurement, project portfolio management, fixed asset management, contract management, workflow, and reporting platforms.
• Advocate for automation, data quality, dashboards, reconciliations, and improvements in reporting.
• Establish and maintain accounting position papers, control narratives, standard operating procedures, process maps, policy guidance, and training resources.
• Provide leadership for monthly closing, forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting related to technology financial activities.
• Act as the primary leadership liaison for Internal Audit and external auditors on matters concerning technology accounting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance professionals.
• Define metrics for transformation success, focusing on process scalability, control effectiveness, user adoption, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in accounting, finance transformation, controllership, financial systems, technology accounting, or accounting operations.
• Proven leadership in managing complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles related to software, cloud computing, internally developed technologies, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, capitalization, amortization, impairment, and expense classification.
• Demonstrated capability to lead enterprise-scale transformation, enhance controls, document accounting decisions, influence operating model design, and convert business requirements into scalable finance processes.
• Experience collaborating with senior leaders across Technology, Finance, Procurement, Tax, Legal, Audit, and various business functions.
• Proven people leadership skills, including team coaching, capability building, priority setting, and stakeholder accountability.
• Excellent executive communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience leading transformations across ERP and finance platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, Coupa, ServiceNow, Adaptive, Anaplan, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with technology project portfolio management, software development lifecycle processes, cloud transformation, data platforms, AI-enabled tools, or enterprise technology cost governance.
• Background in financial services, technology, professional services, or another complex, regulated environment.
• Experience in building or sponsoring automation, dashboards, workflow tools, reporting solutions, governance frameworks, or matrixed transformation initiatives.
• Advanced degree or professional certification is preferred.
• CPA, MBA, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or other equivalent professional certifications are strongly preferred.
