Senior DevOps, Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and manage CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab CI or a similar tool.

• Oversee GitLab and associated CI/CD and collaboration tools, including updates, runners, access, and maintenance.

• Coordinate STEER® software releases across laboratory, development, and production environments, encompassing rollouts, rollbacks, and release documentation.

• Administer the Docker Swarm cluster that operates application workloads, including the multi-service STEER Management stack.

• Utilize Ansible for provisioning and configuring operating systems and applications as infrastructure-as-code.

• Manage application-level configuration, patching, and lifecycle within virtual machines.

• Administer, secure, patch, and configure guest operating systems and applications on production cloud VPS.

• Deploy and manage STEER® releases on cloud VPS following the lab/dev/prod promotion process.

• Collaborate on VPS network and security perimeter issues, including firewall rules, security groups, VPN, and remote access.

• Implement and sustain application-level monitoring and logging.

• Establish alerting and dashboards for deployment health, service performance, and release quality.

• Set up and manage secrets management for pipelines and deployments.

• Collaborate with software engineers, product, and operations teams on deployment practices.

• Maintain documentation related to pipelines, deployment procedures, and release runbooks.

• Disseminate DevOps best practices throughout the engineering organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in a DevOps position.

• Proficient in Linux administration skills (Debian experience is a plus).

• Proven production experience with Docker.

• Hands-on experience with Ansible or comparable configuration management / IaC tools.

• Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar).

• Scripting skills in Python and Shell.

• Experience managing software releases across laboratory, development, staging, and production environments.

• Familiarity with secrets management for CI/CD and production deployments.

• Knowledge of private cloud and VPS environments.

• Understanding of major public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Agile mindset with comfort in collaborating closely with an Infrastructure & Network Engineer on shared platform dependencies.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Experience with embedded or constrained Linux environments (e.g., OpenWrt) relevant to edge deployments.

• Familiarity with application-level observability tools (e.g., Prometheus or Grafana).

• Previous experience in telecommunications, satellite, or mobility connectivity products is preferred.

• French language skills are a plus.
