This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Ensure the operation of business-critical services hosted on AWS.
• Enhance the reliability, scalability, and security of AWS services by adopting fully managed cloud-native technologies.
• Oversee and improve the internal Platform that supports the development and deployment of essential business services.
• Ensure compliance with PCI DSS Level 1 and GDPR regulations.
• Contribute to architectural design and exploratory efforts.
• Identify problems and enhancements, proposing realistic solutions.
• Enhance the maintainability, reliability, performance, and security of systems.
• Resolve operational challenges, determine root causes, offer interim mitigations, and execute long-term solutions.
• Participate in an on-call schedule from Monday to Sunday, averaging once per month.
• Consistently apply relevant best practices.
• Engage in code reviews.
• Provide support and mentorship to junior and mid-level team members.
• Design, build, maintain, and enhance functions within the internal Platform.
• Perform reasonable related tasks as assigned by the line manager.
• Proficiency with AWS services such as VPC, EC2, ELB, Network Firewall, CloudWatch, RDS, KMS, IAM, S3, Lambda, and Route53.
• Familiarity with the OSI model.
• Capability to securely design and troubleshoot cloud networks utilizing the Linux command line and cloud technologies.
• Experience in Linux system administration.
• Knowledge of shell scripting.
• Expertise in configuration management.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, preferably Terraform.
• Experience with version control software.
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Security expertise, including CIS Benchmarks, AWS Security Hub, and OWASP.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Ability to design, test, and implement solutions to business challenges within the AWS Cloud.
• Preferred: experience in the financial services sector, particularly with payment gateways.
• Preferred: experience facilitating annual PCI-DSS Level 1 audits.
• Preferred: capability to develop modern, secure, and testable software using high-level programming languages, ideally Python.
• Preferred: ability to write test code across all levels of the testing pyramid.
• Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD tools.
• Preferred: experience designing synchronous and event-driven architectures that are highly available, fault-tolerant, and performant.
• Preferred: experience managing production services using cloud-based container orchestration technologies.
• Successful completion of a background verification check.
