Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Facilitate the transition from manual, ticket-based infrastructure operations to a primarily automated, infrastructure-as-code-centric environment.

• Take responsibility for environments, CI/CD processes, deployments, devnet/testnet health, and observability, enabling backend developers to concentrate on application code.

• Design and manage the AWS infrastructure, which includes VPC and network architecture, EKS lifecycle, data and compute tiers, as well as considerations for infrastructure costs.

• Create, manage, and enhance Terraform modules, state strategy, drift control, PR-driven reviews, self-service options, and pipeline-based runbooks.

• Oversee the delivery platform, ensuring the health of CI/CD processes, monitoring build times, flake rates, deploy frequency, ephemeral/preview environments, and the health of staging/devnet/testnet.

• Establish and manage reliability and disaster recovery protocols, which encompass RTO/RPO goals, multi-AZ/region failover, game days, tested restores, SLOs, alert quality, and incident response.

• Execute daily security practices through least-privilege IAM, secrets lifecycle management, patching schedules, network segmentation, and IaC guardrails.

• Construct infrastructure that underpins the financial system and cryptocurrency derivatives exchange catering to global traders.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure roles.

• Currently engaged in hands-on work; prior experience in pure management roles is not suitable for this individual-contributor position.

• Extensive AWS experience in designing and managing production environments.

• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code practices; experience with Terraform, or transferable skills from Pulumi/CloudFormation in real estate management.

• Experience in production container orchestration with self-managed Kubernetes or EKS; substantial ECS experience may also be relevant.

• Programming skills beyond configuration, utilizing Python, Go, or Bash for custom exporters/operators/controllers, CI tools, or application-level instrumentation.

• Solid understanding of networking principles, including TCP, DNS, routing, TLS, and load balancing.

• Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals, including systemd, performance analysis, and advanced debugging.

• Skills in IAM policy reasoning.

• Experience with disaster recovery, including defining targets, conducting drills, testing failover, or collaborating closely with those who have.

• Familiarity with an AWS-exclusive environment and EKS is pertinent to the role.

• Bonus: experience in a lean or regulated organization, as a first-or-only DevOps hire, or building a platform under resource constraints.

• Bonus: experience in transforming manual infrastructure operations into automated workflows.
