This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, develop, and enhance payment processor integrations and payments infrastructure, including retries and reconciliation.
• Establish architecture, patterns, and best practices for payment systems.
• Create user-facing features from start to finish, covering database models, APIs, and UI components.
• Utilize advanced AI development tools while maintaining code quality, security, and architectural integrity.
• Investigate incidents of payment fraud and disputed charges.
• Provide insights to Legal and Support teams to assist in resolving billing-related customer issues.
• Enhance the reliability, monitoring, and alerting systems for payment-critical applications.
• Lead incident response, triage issues, drive resolutions, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure that payment systems comply with PCI-DSS and other relevant standards.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Finance teams to convert business requirements into implemented features.
• Explore and integrate emerging AI-driven development workflows.
• Own and scale Practice Better Payments, a platform for embedded billing, subscriptions, and payment processing.
• Over 8 years of relevant full-stack development experience in a SaaS B2B, customer-centric environment.
• Significant hands-on experience with payments, billing, or fintech systems.
• Direct experience with payment processor integration; Stripe is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of PCI compliance, chargebacks and disputes, reconciliation, and fraud/risk fundamentals.
• Proven experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot; this is essential.
• Ability to prompt, guide, and critically assess AI-generated code to meet production standards and ensure financial data security.
• Capability to take significant features from concept to delivery as an independent engineer.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Extensive .NET / C# expertise required.
• Angular is preferred; React is acceptable.
• Familiarity with .NET, AngularJS/jQuery, Angular, TypeScript, Stripe or an equivalent payment processor, MongoDB, S3, SQS, Lambda/AWS, Slack, and Claude Code.
• Analytical, inquisitive, adaptable, and comfortable in a rapidly evolving growth-stage environment.
• Candidate must be based in Canada.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in Canada.
