Senior Design Engineer, Embedded Agreements

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for the design of our API and integration areas, overseeing everything from developer-oriented API surfaces and documentation experiences to the in-product workflows that users depend on to connect their tools;

• Collaborate with product and research teams to define the strategy for these surfaces, remaining attuned to market and audience changes as the barriers to working with APIs and MCP decrease, and translating this into design for a diverse and evolving user base;

• Create and prototype AI-native design patterns for our API, which includes our ChatGPT application, Claude connector, and MCP integration — the points where PandaDoc interacts with AI assistants and agentic workflows;

• Influence the user experience of integrations throughout the product, particularly focusing on two key questions: how our primary CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot) should evolve for an agentic environment, and how to effectively balance the integrations we develop ourselves with the connections customers create for themselves in platforms like Claude through MCP — determining when each approach is appropriate, when a hybrid solution is ideal, and how to craft an experience that intentionally guides customers toward the best option for their needs;

• Rapidly prototype ideas in code, converting concepts from Figma or an LLM discussion into a functional, production-ready React component within days, while managing layout, interaction, accessibility, and performance;

• Pave the way for the Design Engineer role at PandaDoc. Manage projects from inception to launch, and define how this position operates as the first individual in it;

• As the sole Design Engineer on the Embedded Agreements team, contribute your technical insights to the design process — sharing design patterns, collaborating on prototypes, and assisting your fellow designers in enhancing their technical capabilities over time;

• Approach work with an AI-first mindset in Cursor and Claude Code, and possess strong opinions on how to achieve high-quality outputs from these tools;

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in both design and front-end engineering, with a portfolio showcasing shipped interfaces or widely-utilized components;

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and comfort working closely with API surfaces and developer tools;

• A genuine passion for developer experience — understanding what constitutes a well-designed API beyond mere functionality — and curiosity about how this experience is expanding to include non-developers as MCP and AI assistants reduce entry barriers;

• Regular, informed use of Cursor and Claude Code in your daily tasks, with a solid perspective on achieving production-quality output;

• Comfort in building from the ground up, possessing the judgement to set direction in the absence of a template, and the instinct to collaborate with product teams on market trends;
