Software Engineer, Design Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical direction for our design system, encompassing token architecture, components, tooling, testing, and adoption.

• Influence the way AI coding agents construct user interfaces by defining component APIs, creating documentation, establishing guardrails, and optimizing developer workflows.

• Enhance our frontend foundations, which includes refining component architecture, tooling, and development methodologies.

• Elevate frontend quality standards, focusing on performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and detailed interactions.

• Develop the infrastructure necessary to maintain system reliability at scale, incorporating testing, visual regression, CI/CD, and versioned releases.

• Set frontend best practices across various teams to assist engineers in delivering consistent, maintainable, and high-quality user experiences.

• Shape product decisions from the outset by identifying technical constraints, trade-offs, and opportunities during the design process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing frontend products, with substantial ownership of architecture and technical direction.

• Demonstrated experience in owning or significantly enhancing a design system utilized by multiple teams or products.

• Profound frontend expertise, including proficiency in TypeScript, component architecture, and contemporary frontend tooling.

• Proven track record in raising the quality of a product, focusing on improvements in performance, accessibility, usability, and interaction design.

• Strong instincts for product and design, with a keen attention to craft and user experience.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly between engineering and design teams.

• Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development workflows and the role of design systems in guiding and accelerating AI-generated code.

• Preferred: Familiarity with our entire stack including React, Storybook, and data visualization libraries such as visx, D3, or Chart.js; Experience in developing B2B SaaS or highly interactive, data-rich applications.
