Senior Design Engineer, Embedded Agreements

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design for our API and integrations areas from start to finish — encompassing developer-facing API interfaces and documentation experiences, as well as the in-product workflows that users depend on to connect their tools;

• Collaborate with product and research teams to influence the strategy for these interfaces — remaining attentive to market trends and audience shifts as the barriers to API and MCP usage decrease, and converting that insight into designs tailored for a wider, evolving user base;

• Create and prototype AI-driven patterns for our API — including our ChatGPT application, Claude connector, and MCP integration — where PandaDoc intersects with AI assistants and agentic workflows;

• Define the user experience for integrations throughout the product, focusing on two main questions: how our core CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot) should evolve in an agentic world, and how to balance the integrations we develop against those orchestrated by customers in environments like Claude via MCP — determining when each is appropriate, when a hybrid approach is optimal, and designing an experience that purposefully directs customers to the best choice for them;

• Rapidly prototype concepts in code. Transform ideas from Figma or discussions with LLMs into production-ready React components within days, taking full responsibility for layout, interaction, accessibility, and performance;

• Pioneer the Design Engineer role at PandaDoc. Manage projects from inception to launch, and influence how this role operates as the inaugural hire in this capacity;

• As the sole Design Engineer on the Embedded Agreements team, contribute your technical insights to the design process — sharing patterns, collaborating on prototypes, and assisting fellow designers in enhancing their technical skills over time;

• Embrace an AI-first approach in Cursor and Claude Code, and express strong viewpoints on achieving high-quality outcomes with these tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in both design and front-end engineering, with a portfolio showcasing shipped interfaces or widely-used components you can reference;

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and comfort in working closely with API interfaces and developer tools;

• A genuine passion for developer experience — you comprehend what constitutes a well-designed API, beyond mere functionality — and a curiosity regarding how this experience is expanding beyond developers as MCP and AI assistants reduce entry barriers;

• Active and informed usage of Cursor and Claude Code in your daily routine, with a clear perspective on how to achieve production-quality results;

• Ability to build from the ground up, possessing the discernment to set direction when no established template exists, coupled with the intuition to collaborate with product teams on market trends.
