Senior Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, launch, and evaluate Native’s public website from start to finish, encompassing product narratives, launch pages, campaign sites, and career sections.

• Take ownership of website performance, accessibility, SEO, and the implementation of marketing analytics.

• Create and develop internal applications, elevating them to production-quality products that feature interaction design, information architecture, access management, error handling, and maintainability.

• Build and manage a tokenized Brand Operating System in a GitHub repository that includes type, color, spacing, motion, components, templates, and brand guidelines.

• Integrate data visualization as a fundamental aspect of Native’s design system.

• Establish and uphold a high standard of craftsmanship across typography, motion, density, responsiveness, load performance, and visual specifics.

• Implement version control, code reviews, continuous integration, observability, and thorough documentation.

• Convert marketing, product, and leadership requirements into tangible outputs.

• Collaborate with core engineering teams on platform standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven, portfolio-supported capability to design and construct production web software with a high level of craftsmanship.

• Experience in launching public-facing sites characterized by thoughtful typography, intentional motion, careful art direction, and performance that meets audit standards.

• Successfully delivered data-rich B2B or internal applications, including dashboards, tables, filters, permissions, and workflows.

• Regular, production-level engagement with AI coding agents.

• Competence in developing agent harnesses utilizing tools, context, prompts, guardrails, and evaluation loops.

• Ability to articulate delegated tasks, agent malfunction scenarios, and quality assurance measures.

• Proficient in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Three.js, contemporary CSS, edge deployment, a motion library, and structured content.

• Authored or significantly contributed to a design system utilized by others.

• Comfortable being the sole individual responsible for this function and capable of working in ambiguous situations.

• Preferred: background in an agency or design studio combined with in-house product experience.

• Preferred: a public record of craftsmanship, such as recognition from Awwwards, FWA, CSS Design Awards, a widely viewed personal website, or a respected open-source UI project.

• Preferred: experience as a founding member or first design engineer.

• Preferred: expertise in 3D and WebGL, as well as substantial data visualization experience with real datasets.

• Preferred: experience in developing internal tools using third-party SaaS APIs.
