Senior Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, implement, and evaluate technical products and systems utilizing applied engineering principles.

• Conduct engineering design assessments on weapon systems.

• Execute dimensional tolerance and functional analyses.

• Acquire, assemble, and test advanced prototypes.

• Prepare and deliver presentations of designs during design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint.

• Generate necessary design documentation.

• Assist in formulating hardware requirements.

• Confirm and validate designs while demonstrating their performance.

• Conduct trade studies for technology development.

• Analyze data and suggest enhancements.

• Assess both nominal and off-nominal technical system operations and interactions.

• Manage multiple challenges and devise integrated solutions.

• Collaborate with fabrication and manufacturing teams.

• Support development efforts to achieve project milestones.

• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate cross-training for engineers in different fields.

• Act as a technical leader for advanced mechanical systems and weapon subsystems.

• Work with modeling and simulation engineers, systems engineers, analysts, test engineers, manufacturing staff, and program leadership from concept to prototype demonstration and qualification.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related information.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant and recent work experience.

• Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork abilities.

• Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software and equipment.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with peers, cross-functional teams, and external clients.

• Practical knowledge of Department of War components.

• Experience in designing life-critical components for extreme environments based on established engineering principles.

• Familiarity with qualification and acceptance testing.

• Active SECRET Clearance and the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and interface requirements.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Solid mathematical and GDT&E skills.

• Capability to meet deadlines effectively.

• Excellent communication skills with engineers, program management, and government clients.

• Willingness to work in an agile development environment.

• Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.

• Competence in clearly communicating, expressing, and comprehending complex information.
