Senior Design Engineer, AI Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Create engaging and clear UI/UX designs and deliver high-quality mockups.

• Transform design mockups into pixel-perfect, production-ready front-end implementations using current web technologies.

• Enhance existing user interfaces by improving layout, interaction quality, motion, and design consistency.

• Collaborate closely with engineers, partners, and stakeholders.

• Provide support for feature design and implementation throughout the entire process.

• Quickly prototype and refine code to explore concepts, gather feedback, and iterate promptly.

• Contribute to design systems, component libraries, and front-end patterns.

• Take ownership of and develop components, tokens, and patterns within the design system.

• Utilize Cursor and Claude to create AI-first technologies.

• Prototype concepts and deliver polished production-ready outputs from start to finish.

• Design interface layers for AI-native workflows, including streaming, long-running agent processes, and tool-calling surfaces.

• Write a significant amount of code.

• Conduct code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in prompting and developing AI-native development tools like Claude Code and Cursor as part of daily operations.

• A keen eye for detail and a well-developed sense of taste in typography, spacing, layout, micro-interactions, transitions, and information density.

• Strong practical knowledge of modern web technologies, including TypeScript, Vue, React, or similar frameworks.

• Proven experience in building and managing a design system in code.

• Contributions to open-source UI libraries or design resources.

• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities in a fully remote team environment.

• A sense of ownership and accountability.

• Strong UX and visual design capabilities with demonstrated taste and craftsmanship.

• Ability to navigate between design tools like Figma and front-end code.

• Experience with internal tools, admin dashboards, or developer-facing products.

• Instincts for prompt engineering and integration with large language models (LLMs).

• Understanding of how model latency, streaming, uncertainty, and failure modes should be represented in the UI.

• Experience in developing AI-native interface patterns, such as streaming outputs, agentic or long-running tasks, or tool-calling surfaces.

• Comfort in designing or utilizing APIs for front-end applications, focusing on clean contracts, performance, and reliability at the boundary.

• Availability to work with at least 3 hours of overlap with the Eastern Time Zone.
