Senior Database Migration Consultant – Pod Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Spearhead initiatives for database modernization and migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.

• Design, develop, and enhance database objects, which include stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and SSIS/SSRS components.

• Conduct schema conversion and code remediation utilizing the AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).

• Strategically plan and execute database migrations with the AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), incorporating both full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration techniques.

• Improve database performance through indexing, query optimization, and architectural enhancements.

• Evaluate technical deliverables and provide mentorship to members of the database migration team.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of database modernization projects.

• Assist with database validation, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization following migration.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in database engineering, migration, or architecture.

• Advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, and SSIS/SSRS.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL development and performance optimization.

• Experience with SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration projects.

• Solid hands-on experience with the AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).

• Familiarity with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

• Skills in schema conversion and code-object remediation.

• Knowledge of full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration strategies.

• Proficiency in database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization.

• Experience with large-scale database modernization projects.

• Proven track record of leading database migration teams and reviewing technical deliverables.
