Senior Database Engineer – PostgreSQL, MySQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Take complete responsibility for database health from start to finish, which includes monitoring, responding to incidents, and ensuring readiness for recovery.

• Optimize performance across queries, indexes, schemas, and resource usage.

• Safely plan and implement migrations, backfills, and data corrections.

• Ensure data consistency across primary databases, replicas, and analytics pipelines.

• Validate backups, conduct restore tests, and enhance security and access controls.

• Work collaboratively with engineers on database architecture.

• Automate routine operational tasks.

• Perform performance and load testing in dedicated environments to identify bottlenecks, validate scalability, and assess database technologies for various workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience managing production databases.

• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL and strong proficiency in SQL.

• Familiarity with distributed databases, replication, and both transactional and analytical workloads.

• A demonstrated history of resolving incidents and safely deploying database changes.

• A strong sense of ownership, keen attention to detail, and effective, straightforward communication skills.

• Comfort in examining application code and creating your own operational tools.

• Practical experience with any of our specific platforms (preferred).

• Experience in leading a team or mentoring engineers (preferred).
