This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and execute sophisticated analytical models to uncover trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities within extensive and intricate datasets.
• Design, construct, and launch machine learning models aimed at facilitating predictive and prescriptive decision-making.
• Utilize statistical methodologies and data science techniques to address complex business and operational challenges.
• Develop models for forecasting, classification, clustering, anomaly detection, and optimization.
• Provide support for AI-driven analytical solutions that enhance operational insight, performance evaluation, and resource planning.
• Assess emerging AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics technologies suitable for VA environments.
• Establish frameworks for monitoring and evaluating models based on accuracy, stability, interpretability, and performance.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, data profiling, quality evaluations, and feature engineering.
• Prepare and convert structured and semi-structured datasets for analysis.
• Collaborate with data engineers and architects on the development of scalable analytical datasets, data pipelines, integration, and data modeling.
• Ensure that analytical solutions comply with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
• Translate business inquiries, policy goals, and operational requirements into analytical strategies and measurable results.
• Present analytical insights, model results, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Create executive-level presentations, data visualizations, and materials to support decision-making.
• Work alongside program leadership to shift from descriptive reporting to predictive and prescriptive analytics.
• Clearly communicate model assumptions, limitations, and associated risks.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for analytical methods, models, data sources, assumptions, and validation processes.
• Support analytical governance, model lifecycle management, and reproducibility efforts.
• Engage in peer reviews and quality assurance tasks.
• Assess new methodologies and technologies to enhance analytical capabilities and program performance.
• Mentor junior data scientists, analysts, and technical team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, or similar technical positions.
• Strong expertise in Python for data science and machine learning applications, including libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
• Advanced understanding of statistical methods, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques.
• Proficient in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Experience in developing and validating machine learning models, including classification, regression, clustering, forecasting, and anomaly detection.
• Experience in performing exploratory data analysis and effectively communicating insights to varied audiences.
• Familiarity with model evaluation techniques, performance metrics, and validation practices.
• Experience handling large-scale structured and semi-structured datasets.
• Knowledge of data engineering concepts, including ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical capabilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship.
• Capability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field.
• Preferred: Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, or other federal healthcare agencies.
• Preferred: Background in healthcare, clinical, claims, operational, or population health datasets.
• Preferred: Experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, AWS, or similar environments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence and visualization tools.
• Preferred: Involvement in enterprise data modernization, governance, or digital transformation projects.
• Preferred: Experience in developing explainable AI and responsible AI solutions within regulated environments.
