Senior Data Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Implement, maintain, and provide operational support for contemporary lakehouse platforms, with an emphasis on Microsoft Fabric / OneLake.

• Engage in the complete lifecycle from gathering requirements to deployment and ongoing production support.

• Convert business requirements into dependable data products.

• Ensure data quality and reliability through rigorous quality checks, anomaly detection, root cause analysis, and proactive resolution of issues.

• Design, construct, and sustain data ingestion and orchestration components, including Fabric Data Pipelines and notebooks.

• Develop curated Silver/Gold transformation layers in accordance with established grains and keys.

• Operate and monitor platform components, which encompass schedules, alerts, and runbooks.

• Maintain precise and up-to-date technical documentation.

• Collaborate with Solution Architects to adhere to platform standards across various projects.

• Partner with analytics/BI teams to fulfill reporting requirements, validation, and promote adoption.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, or Lakehouse initiatives.

• Proficient in Python or Spark-based transformations.

• Strong SQL expertise for intricate query analysis.

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric (preferred) or comparable cloud data environments and orchestration tools.

• In-depth knowledge of Delta table concepts, including partitioning and schema evolution.

• Familiarity with dimensional data modeling, focusing on grain and keys.

• Capability to oversee the entire development lifecycle.

• Proficient in troubleshooting performance issues across ingestion and consumption layers.

• Ability to articulate complex technical ideas in business-friendly language.

• Effective collaboration in a team-oriented environment.

• Understanding of reporting/semantic consumption patterns and Power BI is advantageous.

• Comfortable in a client-services setting, managing multiple projects, adapting to shifting priorities, with strong communication and documentation skills.

• Knowledge of multi-unit retail/restaurant analytics is beneficial but not mandatory.
