Senior Data Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee a team of data engineers focused on Core Datasets pipelines, providing both technical and logical direction on pipeline design, data modeling, and architectural choices.

• Maintain a well-organized and prioritized Jira backlog; manage sprint planning, track dependencies, and oversee delivery milestones to ensure engineers have clear and unblocked tasks.

• Collaborate closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize data requirements; work with non-finance teams to deliver necessary analytics and data pipelines.

• Review and confirm the accuracy of pipeline logic, data quality rules, and transformation specifications created by the engineering team.

• Ensure that pipelines are designed for scalability and are in alignment with the company's evolving data infrastructure, including the transition to Data Morph.

• Swiftly assess and mobilize the appropriate team members when pipeline failures occur.

• Balance roadmap tasks between finance-related and non-finance data pipelines to guarantee continuous and well-sequenced delivery.

• Simultaneously collaborate with the data engineering team on AI ideation, experimentation, and proofs of concept, ensuring they mature into production-ready deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing or leading a team of data engineers.

• Strong technical expertise in pipeline design, data modeling, and data quality practices.

• Proven capability to own and manage a complex engineering roadmap involving multiple stakeholders.

• Experience with sprint planning, backlog management, and delivery tracking (Jira or similar tools).

• High-level business understanding of finance processes related to Treasury Intercompany, Collections, Revenue Operations, Cash Operations, and Indirect Taxes.

• Familiarity with big data file formats such as Hive and Iceberg.

• Basic knowledge of coding platforms/languages like Spark/Scala, Data Morph, dbt, or similar transformation frameworks is a plus.

• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, enabling effective partnership with finance and non-finance stakeholders to translate business needs into engineering requirements.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple simultaneous workstreams.
