Senior Data Engineer – Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of pipelines and data models that support product, treasury, finance, accounting, and compliance teams.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish data requirements, models, business logic, and pipelines.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of custody, reserves, reconciliation, and customer balances.

• Create reconciliation frameworks, data quality checks, and alerting systems.

• Lead the resolution of incidents and design preventative measures.

• Ingest and model extensive data from various blockchains, managing reorganizations, late or missing records, and schema modifications.

• Ensure data is well-documented, reliable, and suitable for use.

• Transform requests into enhanced data products and identify poorly defined requests.

• Construct scalable automated solutions utilizing SQL, Python, orchestration, transformation tools, and AI.

• Review code, models, and designs for quality assurance.

• Mentor junior engineers to foster their growth.

• Present work to broader audiences to clarify data and financial systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical discipline (such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related field) or equivalent experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in building and operating production data pipelines and models.

• Expertise in SQL and Python programming.

• Familiarity with a modern data stack, including a cloud data warehouse, an orchestration tool like Airflow, and a transformation tool such as dbt.

• Experience managing a data domain from start to finish.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey systems clearly to non-technical audiences.

• Strong collaboration abilities across product engineering, data, finance, accounting, treasury, and compliance departments.

• A robust sense of ownership and accountability in triaging, investigating, and resolving data or pipeline issues.

• Experience with blockchain data, financial services, banking, or other regulated industries is advantageous, although not mandatory.
