Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee Dimensional's enterprise investment data warehouse that supports Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, and Analytics.

• Grasp client requirements and work collaboratively on solution design.

• Create, document, and test application services for scalable data platforms and services.

• Enhance and optimize data architecture and data pipeline.

• Develop and implement investment data technology solutions for Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, Analytics, and Reporting.

• Conceive, design, develop, test, and deliver data technology solutions.

• Work with business analysts, product owners, and project managers on user stories, estimates, and work plans.

• Provide guidance to business clients and IT management on technology capabilities and suggest strategies.

• Identify, design, and execute changes across data ingestion, validation, quality control, integration, storage, management, and delivery.

• Create unit and integration tests, contribute to the engineering wiki, and generate comprehensive documentation.

• Develop high-performance, scalable data-transfer toolsets that meet established SLAs.

• Ensure data consistency, refresh rates, caching, and currency across interfaces.

• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines while participating in code and design reviews.

• Offer technical troubleshooting and production support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• 4-5 years of programming experience in Python (open source) or a similar language.

• Expertise in creating RESTful APIs and web services.

• 4-5 years of experience in SQL.

• Proven experience in applying SOLID principles and Domain Driven Design.

• Background in high-performance and high-availability data applications, including performance optimization and tuning.

• Familiarity with automated acceptance testing and the ability to write unit-tested, maintainable code.

• Strong knowledge of cyber security risks and the capacity to design and build highly secure applications.

• Experience working in a dynamic and interactive team environment.

• Understanding of best practices and IT operations in a continuously available service.

• Experience with Agile/Scrum and waterfall methodologies focused on software development and integration.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering, math, computer science, or a related field.

• Preferred: Proficiency in NoSQL database implementation and optimization.

• Ability to work across multiple programming languages and platforms is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge or experience in the financial services industry.

• Familiarity with Kafka, Airflow, PostgreSQL, Ansible, Elastic Stack, RabbitMQ, Redis, Docker, Okta, OAuth2, and PlainID.
