Senior Data Engineer – Data Infra

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and manage ingestion pipelines and connectors, including Fivetran, dbt, and BigQuery.

• Ensure reliable data transfer from various source systems into the data warehouse.

• Take ownership of and enhance dbt models, the semantic layer, data quality/observability, and orchestration.

• Utilize Power BI tools and internal analytics applications.

• Collaborate with Finance, GTM, Manufacturing, and ML stakeholders to convert business requirements into governed, self-service data products.

• Expand the platform to accommodate AI and agent-based workflows, incorporating governed data access, LLM/agent-compatible semantic layers, and scalable safety measures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in a data engineering, data platform, or SQL-focused analytics engineering position.

• Proven history of developing data ingestion pipelines, connectors, and transformation workflows in production environments.

• Proficient in SQL at an expert level.

• Working knowledge of Python or a similar language for platform tooling and automation.

• Practical experience with Looker, Hex, dbt, and/or comparable BI/analytics tools.

• Ability to collaborate across teams to collect requirements and achieve consensus on data platform strategies.

• Demonstrated success in establishing new data engineering processes amidst ambiguity.

• Readiness to address issues directly and hands-on.

• Strong intellectual curiosity and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Familiarity with healthcare or other heavily regulated and compliance-focused industries is a plus.

• Experience in building infrastructure that supports ML/AI workflows or agent-driven, LLM-powered products is an added advantage.

• Background in developing pipelines that handle compliance for PHI/PII data, especially in healthcare, is a bonus.
