This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Design and develop scalable, efficient, and robust data architectures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data models and structures.
• Create and implement data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration solutions.
• Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Oversee databases, data warehouses, and data lakes management.
• Set data quality standards, validation rules, and governance practices.
• Enhance data quality and documentation of data assets.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Lead and engage in code review sessions.
• Work alongside data scientists, analysts, product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Convert technical concepts into actionable insights and business value.
• Implement monitoring systems to assess pipeline performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Propel the evolution of tools and applications while promoting the adoption of new practices.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and either escalate or resolve customer concerns.
• Lead multiple features and projects involving various engineers.
• Keep stakeholders updated and assist the lead/Engineering Manager with work progress and issue escalations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on data architecture, ETL, and database management.
• Proficiency in Python/PySpark and Java or Scala.
• Expertise in Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and other big data technologies.
• Extensive knowledge of SQL and experience with PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and NoSQL databases.
• Experienced in building complex end-to-end data pipelines.
• Familiarity with orchestration and job scheduling tools like Jenkins, Airflow, or Databricks.
• Comfortable working in an Agile environment such as Scrum, Lean, or Kanban.
• Capable of mentoring junior team members.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, and data services like Redshift, S3, and Azure SQL Data Warehouse.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with Databricks or relevant certification is a bonus.
