Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT workflows utilizing SQL, Python, dbt, and Airflow.

• Create and enhance scalable data models primarily within BigQuery.

• Clean, transform, and organize data to ensure precise analysis and reporting.

• Guide junior engineers while advocating for best practices in coding, data modeling, and system architecture.

• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to convert business requirements into technical specifications.

• Generate summary tables and improve database models for Data Analysts.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data systems, pipelines, data flows, and schemas.

• Deploy datasets, reports, and dashboards to Superset.

• Implement software development best practices, including version control, testing, and modular code organization.

• Operate within an agile development framework and contribute to ongoing improvements.

• Present finalized data products and collect feedback from stakeholders.

• Take ownership of complex data challenges from root-cause analysis to production-ready solutions.

• Perform performance audits on data pipelines, databases, and dashboards, implementing necessary optimizations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in a Data Engineering position, demonstrating a successful history of building and managing production data systems.

• Strong expertise in SQL, Python, dbt, and Airflow.

• Extensive background with PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Platform.

• Familiarity with Superset or other visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc.

• Solid grasp of fundamental software engineering principles, including modular code design, testing, and version control (e.g., Git).

• Ability to think critically, independently solve complex problems, and drive projects to successful completion.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying intricate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in an agile development setting.

• Familiarity with Ruby (a bonus).

• Experience in the non-profit or fundraising technology sector (a bonus).

• Experience with SaaS (a bonus).
