
Senior Data Consultant – Microsoft Fabric, Azure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +18 more states.
• Construct and oversee Microsoft Fabric data pipelines that integrate REST APIs, SQL Server sources, and file-based ingestion methods.
• Create and manage Spark notebooks within the Microsoft Fabric environment.
• Execute Bronze, Silver, and Gold lakehouse patterns in OneLake settings.
• Develop ingestion workflows that can handle schema drift and adapt to changing source systems.
• Design reusable ingestion frameworks and scalable data engineering methodologies to enhance future solution delivery.
• Construct, test, and optimize ETL/ELT processes for improved performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Aid in the implementation of semantic models, Direct Lake solutions, and fulfill downstream analytics needs.
• Engage in Azure DevOps CI/CD processes, including workflows for Dev/Test/Prod promotions.
• Apply best practices in metadata, lineage, governance, and security to support enterprise-level Microsoft Fabric solutions.
• Work closely with client engineers through paired development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Implement data engineering best practices concerning testing, monitoring, documentation, and operational support.
• Must reside in the United States.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
• Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
• Over 5 years of experience with Azure Data Services, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Synapse.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric in production environments.
• Extensive experience in building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficient in developing Spark notebooks and data transformation workflows.
• Experience in implementing medallion architecture patterns (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
• Strong SQL skills for data transformation, validation, and performance optimization.
• Experience integrating data from REST APIs, relational databases, XML, CSV, and other structured or semi-structured sources.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD processes.
• Understanding of data governance, lineage, and metadata management principles.
• Experience within lakehouse architectures and cloud-based analytics platforms.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and engage in client-facing discussions when necessary.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Direct Lake implementations (preferred).
• Experience integrating governance platforms such as Alation (preferred).
• Familiarity with supporting Power BI semantic models and analytics workloads (preferred).
• Experience in consulting or professional services environments (preferred).
• Exposure to Azure OpenAI, Power Apps, or AI-assisted data workflows (preferred).
