Senior Cybersecurity Threat Hunter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct the threat hunting initiative, encompassing campaign strategy, prioritization, execution, and reporting.

• Perform threat research, formulate hunting hypotheses, and pinpoint detection deficiencies to enhance security monitoring.

• Examine security telemetry from sources such as SIEM, EDR, data lakes, and others to detect advanced threats.

• Create and refine threat detection use cases, detection models, and engineering frameworks (e.g., OpenTIDE).

• Design, automate, and sustain threat hunting workflows, playbooks, integrations, and IoC retro-hunting functionalities.

• Assist in incident response investigations, purple team exercises, and the validation of new detection capabilities.

• Collaborate with Incident Response, Threat Detection, Threat Intelligence, Malware Analysis, Red/Purple Teams, and external partners (e.g., CERT-EU).

• Prepare executive briefings, campaign reports, and investigation summaries for senior management.

• Guide and train junior threat hunters while advocating for threat-informed detection practices.

• Persistently enhance detection coverage by integrating lessons learned from incidents, red teaming, and threat intelligence.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, specializing in Cybersecurity.

• At least 2 years of experience leading Threat Hunting efforts in a SOC/CSOC or similar environment.

• Demonstrated experience in operationalizing threat intelligence to facilitate proactive hunting and detection engineering.

• Proven track record in developing and enhancing detection coverage to transform intelligence-driven priorities into timely and pertinent detection use cases that align with CSOC operational requirements.

• Practical experience with OpenTIDE or a comparable detection content management platform.

• Strong hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, particularly Splunk Enterprise Security and Risk-Based Alerting, or equivalent technologies, for detection engineering, alerting, and use case development.

• Solid practical experience with EDR solutions.

• Capability to generate clear, structured, and actionable reports, including threat assessments and strategic or operational reports, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Excellent coordination abilities with internal teams, business representatives, and external partners.
