Senior Cybersecurity Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the authority for security architecture reviews and designs for new solutions, integrations, and significant modifications.

• Assess solution designs at the permission-to-build and permission-to-operate checkpoints.

• Generate formal InfoSec evaluations with risk-rated findings and drive remediation or time-boxed exceptions to resolution.

• Advocate for Zero Trust architecture, identity-centric access, least privilege, micro-segmentation, and continuous verification.

• Create enterprise security reference architectures, reusable design patterns, secure-by-design standards, and paved-road guardrails.

• Design and evaluate hybrid/multicloud security architecture, primarily focusing on AWS.

• Integrate security into CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, container/Kubernetes, DevSecOps, and secure SDLC methodologies.

• Evaluate protection measures for data and AI systems, including classification, human-in-the-loop controls, confidence-threshold gating, audit logging, rollback, and model/vendor data handling.

• Review security aspects of APIs, integrations, and third-party SaaS solutions, including MuleSoft and Akamai.

• Conduct vendor security risk assessments and collaborate with Legal/Privacy on regulatory decisions.

• Align controls and findings with NIST CSF 2.0, NIST 800-53, and ISO 27001 while enforcing minimum security baselines.

• Uphold Privileged Access Management standards for service accounts and credentials.

• Engage in or approve activities related to the Architectural Review Board and Change Advisory Board.

• Carry out risk analysis across networks, applications, and third-party service providers.

• Keep security architecture documentation, standards, patterns, and procedures up to date.

• Offer technical oversight and architectural guidance for incident response, investigation, and remediation, including support outside of regular hours as necessary.

• Investigate emerging security technologies, threats, advisories, laws, and regulations.

• Mentor delivery teams and information security personnel on secure design patterns and self-service guardrails.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in work or education.

• Over 7 years of experience in IT Security, encompassing security architecture and solution design review.

• Proficiency in designing Zero Trust and secure-by-design architectures, along with reusable security patterns and reference architectures.

• Practical experience in securing hybrid/multicloud environments, particularly AWS; Azure/GCP experience is a plus.

• Knowledge of IAM, serverless/Lambda, S3, KMS, Secrets Manager, VPC design, and cloud-native security controls.

• Experience in DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices, including CI/CD pipeline security, infrastructure-as-code scanning, and container/Kubernetes security.

• Familiarity with API and integration security, including API gateways, WAF, MuleSoft/Akamai (or equivalent), and third-party SaaS integrations.

• Exposure to security within data and AI/ML or automation/agentic systems.

• Background in security standards development, risk assessment, third-party/vendor risk, and compliance testing.

• Understanding of penetration testing and vulnerability assessment methodologies.

• Solid knowledge of NIST CSF 2.0, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS.

• Practical knowledge of cloud security services, IAM, cryptography/encryption and key management, DLP, SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, firewalls, and Active Directory.

• CISSP certification is required or strongly preferred; Microsoft SC-100, CISSP-ISSAP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISM, CISA, CEH, or GIAC certifications are preferred or considered a plus.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, time-management, project-management, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple projects within set timeframes.
