Senior Curriculum Developer – Community for Rigor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Collaboratively develop training materials tailored for scientists at various levels and stages of their careers.

• Partner with subject matter experts, educational professionals, rigor advocates, technologists, and others to produce engaging and effective educational resources.

• Design, create, implement, evaluate, and refine educational content.

• Contribute to shared C4R initiatives, including offering feedback on web-based interactive elements.

• Assess existing educational units and incorporate feedback into future iterations.

• Collaborate with C4R, the Kording Lab, Penn, and affiliated organizations.

• Facilitate communication across teams and individuals, which includes providing and receiving constructive feedback and actionable recommendations.

• Support the application of C4R values within work and processes.

• Deliver C4R content to various audiences, including pilot groups.

• Travel to conferences to represent C4R, with travel not exceeding 10%.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree and at least three years of experience in teaching within a higher education environment, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Preference for candidates with a background in statistics, life sciences, neuroscience, or related disciplines.

• Understanding of rigor and reproducibility challenges, particularly in the biomedical sciences.

• Familiarity with evidence-based teaching methods and instructional design principles.

• Empathy for the learner demographic and the capacity to address learners’ needs effectively.

• Strong writing and documentation capabilities, including providing written feedback and updating internal knowledge management documents.

• Ability to craft effective copy, instructional text, audio/visual scripts, and associated materials.

• Certification as an Instructor for The Carpentries or a similar credential is preferred.

• Knowledge of explicit teaching and explicit instruction preferred.

• Familiarity with project management tools or systems such as Monday.com, Trello, Asana, or Jira is preferred.

• Experience in creating educational multimedia, encompassing graphics, audio recordings, video clips, and interactive simulations is preferred.
