This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.
• Independently assess new, renewal, modification, and annual-review requests related to C&I and CRE relationships.
• Evaluate primary and secondary repayment sources along with the underlying assumptions for repayment.
• Analyze the financial condition of borrowers and guarantors, including historical performance, projections, liquidity, leverage, collateral, and industry factors.
• Create concise credit presentations that highlight strengths, weaknesses, material risks, mitigants, and unresolved inquiries.
• Review loan structures, amortization schedules, tenors, covenants, collateral, guarantor support, and other terms in relation to identified risks.
• Facilitate accurate and well-supported risk-rating recommendations.
• Analyze business financial statements, tax returns, interim results, projections, recurring cash flow, working capital cycles, concentrations, borrowing-base considerations, and liquidity requirements.
• Underwrite investment CRE, owner-occupied CRE, and construction or development transactions.
• Assess property-level cash flow, debt-service coverage, occupancy rates, lease terms, tenant concentration, rollover risks, and sponsor support.
• Review appraisals, rent rolls, operating statements, construction budgets, sources and uses, equity contributions, and other third-party materials.
• Evaluate loan-to-value ratios, debt yield, breakeven occupancy, and sensitivity to fluctuations in rents, vacancy rates, expenses, capitalization rates, and interest rates.
• Analyze affordable housing, LIHTC, NMTC, and other mission-driven transactions as assigned.
• Collaborate with lenders, legal counsel, and internal subject-matter experts to comprehend specialized structures and document significant risks.
• Conduct annual reviews, covenant testing, borrowing-base analysis, and ongoing portfolio oversight.
• Communicate significant changes in borrower performance, collateral, guarantor strength, industry dynamics, or repayment capabilities.
• Assist in watch-list reviews, criticized credit monitoring, and action-plan formulation.
• Partner with lenders and Commercial Lending Coordinators to finalize reviews within set deadlines.
• Act as a technical resource and informal mentor for Credit Analysts.
• Provide peer feedback on complex analytical matters.
• Identify underwriting challenges, training needs, and opportunities for enhancing templates, standards, and quality-control practices.
• Around 5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or related commercial banking roles.
• Equivalent experience depth will also be considered.
• Proven experience in underwriting both C&I and Commercial Real Estate transactions.
• Strong understanding of commercial financial statements, tax returns, cash flow analysis, debt service capacity, leverage, liquidity, and guarantor evaluation.
• Experience in assessing CRE cash flow, rent rolls, leases, appraisals, loan-to-value ratios, and sponsor support.
• Capability to independently underwrite more complex transactions and pinpoint significant credit issues with minimal guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for credit presentations.
• Strong judgment, curiosity, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines while ensuring analytical quality.
• Preferred experience in mentoring or providing technical support to junior analysts.
• Familiarity with affordable housing, LIHTC, NMTC, community-development finance, layered public-private capital structures, or construction lending is advantageous but not essential.
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Formal credit training or advanced banking education is highly regarded.
