Senior Counsel, Product, Payments, Compliance

📋 Description

• Act as the main legal consultant for product and engineering teams engaged in creating blockchain-based payment systems and financial infrastructure.

• Offer proactive legal and regulatory advice concerning US financial services laws and frameworks, including money transmission, payments regulation, and associated compliance responsibilities.

• Develop, implement, and adapt internal compliance policies, product governance frameworks, and risk assessment procedures in line with US regulatory expectations.

• Collaborate closely with compliance, risk, and security teams to integrate controls into product development and engineering processes, including KYC, AML, sanctions, and data privacy obligations.

• Simplify complex regulatory requirements and enforcement trends into concise, actionable guidance for product, engineering, and business teams.

• Work cross-functionally to ensure that product strategy is in harmony with legal, regulatory, and internal policy standards.

• Oversee external legal counsel on specific regulatory issues and assist with internal reviews related to product and operational risk.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

• Over 7 years of legal experience, including roles in law firms and/or in-house positions within fintech, payments, banking, or blockchain sectors.

• Extensive knowledge of US financial services regulation, including money transmission, payments, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

• Proven experience in advising on product legal and compliance issues within fintech, cryptocurrency, or payments infrastructure.

• Demonstrated ability in developing or executing compliance policies, governance frameworks, or risk management programs within a technology or financial services setting.

• Capability to convert regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for product and engineering teams in a dynamic environment.
