• Offer guidance and/or ensure representation on NPF Member files.
• Actively advocate for NPF Members in various labor processes.
• Provide legal counsel and direction to the NPF’s Member Services Team.
• Deliver strategic advice and direction to NPF's retained external counsel.
• Advise NPF departmental directors on their daily activities from a legal perspective.
• Offer legal guidance to the NPF as an employer and Not-for-Profit Corporation.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree.
• Must be a current member in good standing of a provincial or territorial Law Society.
• Minimum of 3 years of legal experience.
• Bilingualism is preferred.
• Strong knowledge in key legal areas, especially: labor and employment law, human rights law, and administrative law.
• Familiarity with federal corporate law and/or criminal law is a plus.
• Capability to analyze, research, evaluate, and interpret legal matters.
• Excellent oral and written communication/advocacy skills.
• Proficient in legal research and drafting.
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office productivity tools.
• Proficient with legal research platforms such as Westlaw, Quicklaw, CanLII, etc.
