This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Serve as the primary daily point of contact for clients, delivering enhanced cost management services.
• Estimate and negotiate changes throughout the construction process.
• Provide cost estimates and planning, including the preparation and presentation of final cost plans.
• Review and engage in the development of cost estimates by the design team and general contractors.
• Reconcile changes and ensure the accuracy of contractor data.
• Collect project status updates and prepare cost estimate revisions.
• Draft written feedback and executive summaries regarding contractor submissions.
• Coordinate cost information from project stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors, and architects/engineers.
• Advise on engineering priorities according to cost implications.
• Proactively address scheduling concerns with minimal oversight.
• Oversee cost checks and valuations on larger projects.
• Manage cost variances and change-control processes post-contract.
• Monitor cost impacts, contingencies, and commitments.
• Prepare funding-data presentations and facilitate value-engineering discussions.
• Develop and revise cost plans and estimates at design milestones.
• Offer commercial insights during design optioneering and value engineering.
• Evaluate contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations on behalf of the client.
• Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project duration.
• Oversee cost auditing, valuation, and cost-validation activities.
• Generate monthly cost reports for client review.
• Negotiate and finalize accounts.
• Assemble built-cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
• Identify, mentor, and coach emerging talent.
• Monitor commission margins, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reports using internal software.
• Implement and sustain internal business management systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.
• Advocate for Turner & Townsend’s purpose, values, vision, and unified business culture.
• Comply with applicable SOX control responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5–7 years of pertinent experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• RICS accreditation or progress towards it is preferred.
• Experience in leading cost management for medium to large-scale, medium to high-complexity construction projects.
• Strong preference for experience in construction consultancy.
• Solid understanding of construction industry technical aspects, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a client-facing role.
• Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Self-driven and motivated.
• Proficient in leading, directing, coaching, and mentoring talent.
• Familiarity with cost controls, quantity surveying, change management, cost auditing, and valuation processes.
