This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day client liaison for cost management services.
• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction process.
• Create and present final cost plans.
• Review design services and cost estimates from general contractors.
• Reconcile changes and confirm the accuracy of contractor data.
• Gather information on project status and prepare updates on cost estimates.
• Draft written comments and executive summaries for contractor submissions.
• Coordinate cost data from project stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors, and architects/engineers.
• Drive engineering priorities based on cost implications.
• Oversee cost checks, valuations, audits, and validations.
• Manage cost variances and change control processes after contract signing.
• Monitor cost implications, contingencies, and commitments.
• Prepare funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.
• Develop cost plans and estimates through various design milestones.
• Provide commercial insights for design optioneering and value engineering.
• Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors and lead client negotiations.
• Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.
• Negotiate and finalize accounts.
• Compile built-cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
• Coach and mentor emerging talent.
• Manage commission margins, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reports.
• Implement business management systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.
• Champion Turner & Townsend’s values and promote a unified business culture.
• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related construction field.
• At least 5–7 years of pertinent experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward it is preferred.
• Experience in leading cost management for medium or large construction projects of moderate to high complexity.
• Construction consultancy experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of technical aspects of the construction industry, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Capability to function in a client-facing role.
• Proactive work approach with minimal supervision.
• Skills in leading, mentoring, and coaching talent.
• Proficient in using internal software for margin, fee, resource forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Ability to implement and sustain business management systems and delivery methodologies.
