Senior Cost Manager – Quantity Surveyor, Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary daily point of contact for clients regarding cost management services.

• Assist in large-scale, mission-critical industrial and campus-style construction projects.

• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the entire construction process.

• Create and present final cost plans and estimates.

• Evaluate design services and general contractor cost proposals.

• Reconcile modifications and ensure the accuracy of contractor data.

• Collect project status updates and prepare revised cost estimates.

• Draft written feedback and executive summaries on contractor submissions.

• Coordinate cost data from NPA, subcontractors, suppliers, quantities, and architects/engineers.

• Promote engineering priorities based on cost implications.

• Proactively address scheduling conflicts.

• Oversee cost checks, valuations, auditing, and validation processes.

• Manage cost impacts, contingency tracking, commitment oversight, and change control procedures.

• Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.

• Develop and revise cost plans and estimates at key design milestones.

• Provide commercial insights into design optioneering and value engineering.

• Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations on the client side.

• Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.

• Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.

• Negotiate and finalize accounts.

• Assemble built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.

• Identify, coach, and mentor emerging talent.

• Monitor commission margins, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reports using internal software.

• Implement internal business management systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.

• Advocate for Turner & Townsend’s values, vision, and unified culture.

• Comply with SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field in construction.

• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.

• RICS accreditation or progress towards accreditation is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience leading cost management on medium to large-scale, medium to high-complexity construction projects.

• Experience in supporting mission-critical, advanced technology, data center, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or large campus-style developments is preferred.

• Strongly preferred experience in construction consultancy.

• Solid understanding of construction industry technical aspects, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

• Proficient in operating in a client-facing capacity.

• Willingness to work remotely from Ohio or nearby states and travel to the Columbus-area project site approximately once a month.
