Senior Consultant – Power Platform

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design and implementation of services, components, or data flows within your domain, ensuring they align with security, performance, reliability, and cost objectives as outlined by the architecture.

• Direct the technical execution of a workstream, mentoring fellow engineers to ensure designs, interfaces, and code adhere to established patterns and standards.

• Decompose architectural guidance into well-defined technical tasks, organize them logically, and monitor dependencies and risks within your scope.

• Implement sound engineering practices, including modular design, clear contracts, automated testing, and observability, to maintain code clarity and ease of modification.

• Conduct design and code reviews emphasizing correctness, simplicity, security, and readability, while providing clear, actionable feedback.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance coding, testing, and documentation processes, sharing effective prompts and workflows for the benefit of others.

• Identify technical issues early, present options with associated trade-offs, and collaborate with architects and leads to arrive at practical solutions.

• Foster alignment among hybrid/onshore and offshore teams through the use of work items, pull requests, documentation, and asynchronous communication to ensure continuous progress across time zones.

• Engage in discovery and refinement for your workstream, assisting in translating requirements into user stories or tasks with well-defined acceptance criteria.

• Provide effort estimates for your area, highlight assumptions, and adjust estimates as more information becomes available to give stakeholders a realistic view of progress.

• Articulate design and implementation decisions in clear terms to engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders.

• Link deliverables to business objectives, ensuring stakeholders grasp their impact.

• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and leads to align your workstream’s backlog, interfaces, and non-functional requirements with the overall program.

• Support your team's delivery stability by advocating for effective branching, reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.

• Utilize telemetry and logs to confirm behavior in both non-production and production environments, facilitating data-driven enhancements.

• Operate effectively in hybrid and remote environments, utilizing agreed communication channels and ensuring everyone remains informed about status and obstacles.

• Mentor engineers, particularly those at L8 and below, through pairing, code reviews, and design sessions, with an emphasis on code quality, debugging, and systems thinking.

• Demonstrate pragmatic decision-making, illustrating how to keep designs straightforward while allowing for future adaptability.

• Share insights gained, enhance internal documentation, and contribute to runbooks or implementation guides relevant to your area.

• Assist in recruitment by participating in technical interviews and providing feedback on candidates’ coding, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience delivering solutions in a primary technical domain such as application development, cloud platform engineering, DevOps, or data and analytics.

• Several years of experience overseeing design and implementation for services, components, or data flows, including guiding other engineers.

• Proven experience serving as a team lead or workstream owner for a small team, coordinating tasks and ensuring high-quality, timely delivery.

• Substantial experience building on at least one major public cloud platform, with a strong preference for Azure.

• Extensive hands-on expertise in the languages, frameworks, and patterns of your primary domain, with the ability to apply them to develop maintainable systems.

• Practical experience using AI-augmented development tools in everyday tasks and integrating AI or ML services via APIs or cloud platforms where applicable.

• Experience working within Agile or Scrum teams, including backlog refinement, estimation, and iteration planning.

• Relevant experience in consulting or professional services is advantageous, particularly in direct engagement with client stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and applying new cloud or AI technologies to enhance project delivery.
