This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Assisting in large-scale and intricate client projects.
• Monitoring and assessing trends within the energy market.
• Converting client inquiries and challenges into actionable work scopes.
• Preparing reports, presentations, and various documents to convey solutions, strategies, and analyses to clients.
• Creating and utilizing analytical models, programming, and simulations to predict market prices, conduct research and development, and develop tools that enhance productivity and accuracy.
• Evaluating and validating model outputs through data collection, manipulation, and analysis, which may involve the creation and management of spreadsheets and databases.
• Gaining expertise in ISO/RTO markets throughout North America, focusing on local energy pricing, capacity auctions, ancillary services, and changes in load composition and demand response initiatives.
• Being well-versed in the economics, policies, and stakeholders influencing renewables, battery storage development, green fuels, and emerging power generation technologies.
• Overseeing simulations of future power transmission grid dispatch using an economic dispatch model.
• Assessing the addition or retirement of various generating resources using a capacity expansion model across ISO/RTO markets.
• Understanding how energy entities procure power, integrate renewables, and ensure grid reliability.
• Assisting in the development of our Reference Case while broadening our client base.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident due to the nature of client engagements.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, energy finance, or engineering, along with three (3+) or more years of relevant work experience post-graduation (e.g., consulting, strategy, project development);
• Alternatively, a Master's degree in business, economics, energy finance, or engineering, with two (2+) or more years of relevant work experience post-graduation (e.g., consulting, strategy, project development).
• Experience in post-graduation work with economic dispatch models such as Aurora, Origin, PLEXOS, BID3, or PSO.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in data analytics, modeling, and visualization.
• Demonstrated proactive and independent working style.
• Capability to take ownership of substantial task components while working collaboratively within a close-knit team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to work in either a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
