Senior Computer Vision Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for camera and multi-sensor calibration within our capture rigs, including intrinsics, extrinsics, and time synchronization.

• Develop, assess, and enhance SLAM, VIO, and mapping pipelines to recover aligned 6-DoF trajectories from real-world data captures.

• Train and/or refine models for pose estimation and semantic comprehension of multi-modal information.

• Identify and resolve issues that manifest in the field, such as drift, calibration drift, sensor misalignment, degraded tracking, weak reconstructions, and noisy data.

• Establish the ground-truth and benchmarking methodologies we employ to evaluate improvements in the spatial layer.

• Determine the necessity for custom perception solutions versus the adequacy of off-the-shelf components.

• Collaborate closely with the engineering team and Trace Labs (our applied research division) to provide reliable spatial outputs for downstream annotation, evaluation, and product workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in at least one of the following areas: SLAM, visual odometry, VIO, mapping, or localization.

• Practical experience with camera calibration, sensor fusion, multi-sensor alignment, or state estimation.

• Proven record of deploying perception systems on actual hardware within real-world settings—such as robotics, autonomy, AR/VR, drones, or other sensor-intensive systems.

• Ability to reason effectively across software, sensors, calibration, and data quality, rather than viewing models in isolation.

• Practical approach regarding when to utilize off-the-shelf components, when to develop custom solutions, and when to defer issues to the sensor or capture aspects.

• Strong sense of ownership, sound judgment, and effective, thoughtful communication skills.

• Emotional maturity coupled with a collaborative and grounded working style.
