Senior Communications Products Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, compose, and distribute press releases, official statements, and media advisories for VHA AI Education Hub programs and milestones, adhering to VA public affairs guidelines.

• Oversee and implement social media strategies across approved federal platforms.

• Craft policy-compliant content that promotes AI education resources and encourages stakeholder engagement.

• Act as the main point of contact for incoming media inquiries.

• Coordinate media responses in collaboration with VA communications leadership, contracting officers, and subject matter experts.

• Maintain a communications calendar to track deadlines, campaign timelines, and media outreach efforts.

• Collaborate with program managers, technical subject matter experts, and graphic design teams to produce newsletters, fact sheets, infographics, and video scripts.

• Monitor, analyze, and report on communications performance metrics.

• Provide data-driven insights to enhance outreach effectiveness and audience engagement.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, or a closely related field.

• A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline is required.

• Experience in supporting federal government agencies, healthcare organizations, or other highly regulated institutions.

• Knowledge of federal communications policies, clearance/approval workflows, and Section 508 compliance requirements.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential.

• Ability to successfully complete a VA background investigation.

• Ability to access VA systems and facilities as necessary according to the contract.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.

• May be subject to federal contractor employment eligibility verification (E-Verify).

• Proficient in drafting and editing press releases, media statements, and social media content.

• A portfolio or writing samples that demonstrate experience across various communications formats and audiences.

• Desired: Experience supporting VA, VHA, or other federal health agency communications programs.

• Desired: Familiarity with artificial intelligence, health IT, or emerging technology topics.

• Desired: Experience with federal digital communications platforms and tools.

• Desired: Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards for digital content.

• Desired: Experience in developing integrated communications campaigns.

• PMP, APR, or equivalent professional certification is a plus.
