Senior Commercial Counsel

📋 Description

• Oversee the drafting and negotiation of intricate commercial agreements, encompassing enterprise customer contracts and strategic vendor/data partnerships.

• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Client Services, Information Security, and Finance to evaluate risk and facilitate revenue through practical legal guidance, aligning with business objectives.

• Provide counsel on product initiatives (data usage, features, customer experience), applying a product-focused legal perspective to decision-making.

• Convert regulatory and data provider requirements into concise, actionable instructions for deals and operations.

• Enhance leverage and automation through systems by refining CLM (Ironclad), templates, and playbooks to boost efficiency and consistency.

• Work alongside the in-house legal team to navigate changing priorities and contribute in areas outside your current expertise.

• Assist in business growth and new initiatives while staying ahead of fintech and regulatory trends.

• Utilize AI tools to innovate, develop, and implement daily tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership in good standing.

• Over 3 years of experience as part of an in-house legal team in roles extending beyond commercial contracting.

• More than 5 years of experience overseeing commercial contract deliverables.

• At least 8 years of experience, with responsibilities and judgment aligned with senior or Head of Legal-level functions.

• Experience in contributing to an in-house legal team in areas beyond commercial contracting.

• Proven ability to advise strategically and execute directly, including hands-on contract negotiations.

• Experience leading complex commercial transactions with enterprise clients and financial institutions.

• Familiarity with financial services, consumer protection, and data/privacy regulations.

• In-house experience in a high-growth or early-stage setting, demonstrating strong judgment, prioritization, and communication skills.

• A conviction that AI is transforming work, with an instinctual use of it to enhance productivity.
