Senior ColdFusion Application Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the sustainment, modernization, integration, security enhancement, and improvement of ColdFusion-based mission applications.

• Execute intricate configuration, development, integration, troubleshooting, and sustainment tasks with minimal supervision.

• Collaborate closely with government stakeholders, architects, engineers, product owners, cybersecurity, operations, and business users to translate requirements into mission-focused platform capabilities.

• Design, configure, develop, integrate, test, document, and maintain ColdFusion functionalities.

• Modernize and sustain CFML applications, database interactions, APIs, authentication, security measures, and legacy integration points.

• Convert business, mission, security, accessibility, and operational requirements into practical technical solutions.

• Provide support for platform architecture, backlog refinement, implementation planning, release readiness, and transition activities to production.

• Create reusable patterns, configuration standards, automation processes, documentation, and support protocols.

• Diagnose complex issues across platform configuration, code, data, APIs, identity, security, performance, and user experience.

• Work in collaboration with cybersecurity, privacy, data, infrastructure, QA, and change management teams.

• Keep technical documentation, design decisions, implementation notes, test evidence, and operational runbooks up to date.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in senior platform engineering or application development.

• Practical experience with ColdFusion implementation, configuration, development, integration, testing, or operations.

• Familiarity with Agile delivery teams and the ability to convert stakeholder requirements into maintainable technical results.

• Strong practical knowledge of ColdFusion capabilities, implementation patterns, administration, development, integration, and lifecycle management.

• Competence in designing and implementing secure, maintainable, upgrade-conscious solutions that minimize unnecessary customization and decrease technical debt.

• Experience with APIs, identity and access controls, data management, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and release coordination.

• Proficiency in documenting technical designs, configuration choices, operational procedures, test outcomes, and risks in clear business and technical terms.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with government stakeholders, product owners, engineers, QA, cybersecurity, and operations teams.

• Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

• Preferred: Adobe ColdFusion training, secure coding certification, cloud certification, database certification, or a comparable application development credential.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting federal government IT environments, Public Trust programs, or regulated enterprise delivery.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Section 508, cybersecurity, auditability, data protection, and operational documentation standards.

• Preferred: Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure as code, or platform release automation.

• Preferred: Understanding of federal security and compliance concepts, including NIST controls, FISMA, FedRAMP-authorized services, audit evidence, and least privilege.

• Preferred: Experience in enhancing platform governance, reuse, documentation, observability, and operational readiness.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Atlassian, Snowflake, data catalog, CRM, or enterprise integration ecosystems.
