This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Assess the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established guidelines.
• Execute both routine and complex technical procedures as per departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Oversee, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to guarantee proper functionality.
• Make informed technical decisions related to testing and problem resolution.
• Prepare, test, and assess new reagents or controls.
• Deliver accurate and timely test results to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Conduct and document preventive maintenance and quality control processes.
• Identify and restock testing bench supplies as needed.
• Provide assistance with specimen processing when necessary.
• Ensure a safe working environment and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• At least 4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Certification from the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG) is preferred.
• ASCP or AMT certification is also preferred.
• Non-traditional degrees with relevant science credits that comply with CLIA standards may fulfill education requirements.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory setting.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Proficient computer skills; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Capability to meet the physical demands of the position.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color blindness evaluation.
• Willingness to work overtime or alternative shifts as business needs arise.
• A dedicated, non-shared home office space that complies with HIPAA requirements.
• Consent to have home address included in reports of analyzed or reported cases as mandated by CMS.
• Wired or wireless internet connection with a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.
• Ability to work effectively from home in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, managing competing priorities and demands.
