This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Design, maintain, and enhance the DragonVale mobile game client for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Operate within a well-established C++ codebase to introduce new features, enhance current systems, and assist with live game updates.
• Collaborate extensively with designers, artists, QA, production, and other engineers to provide high-quality features and enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve client-side issues related to gameplay, user interface, performance, stability, content configuration, and platform-specific behavior.
• Assist with live operations by investigating production challenges, preparing fixes, and ensuring smooth releases.
• Partner with QA to identify potential risks, replicate issues, and outline testing requirements for new features and game updates.
• Contribute to the enhancement of internal tools, workflows, and content pipelines that affect the client development process.
• Review code, share technical expertise, and help uphold high engineering standards within the team.
• Assume responsibility for client-side systems and features, overseeing them from implementation to release and post-release support.
• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on game client development using C++.
• Exceptional skills in C++ programming and debugging.
• Experience in developing and maintaining games built on proprietary C++ engines.
• Background in mobile game development for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Proficient in building, debugging, and profiling projects using Xcode.
• Familiar with Android Studio and the Android build/debugging processes.
• Experience working with legacy codebases and enhancing existing systems over time.
• Strong knowledge of client-side game development, including gameplay systems, UI, performance, stability, and platform-specific challenges.
• Excellent debugging abilities, including investigating crashes, memory concerns, performance issues, and platform-specific bugs.
• Solid understanding of memory management, data structures, and considerations for runtime performance.
• Proven experience taking ownership of features, systems, or technical domains from implementation through to release and post-release support.
• Ability to work effectively within an established architecture while balancing new development with long-term maintainability.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, artists, QA, and production teams.
• Strong communication skills coupled with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
