This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee claims reported nationally under primary and excess Miscellaneous Professional E&O, which includes conducting coverage analysis, investigations, liability assessments, potential exposure evaluations, and formulating and executing resolution strategies.
• Communicate effectively and promptly with insured parties, agents, brokers, and underwriters regarding the status and management of claims.
• Assess coverage and draft coverage letters on intricate matters with assistance from in-house coverage counsel.
• Manage claims that are in litigation, collaborating with defense counsel and experts to devise effective defense strategies.
• Establish timely and accurate indemnity and expense reserves, reassessing and updating these reserves appropriately based on claim progress.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.
• Oversee and manage Loss Adjusting Expenses incurred by legal counsel, experts, and vendors.
• Present, evaluate, and provide recommendations on reserves, coverage, and strategic direction.
• Adhere to state guidelines concerning Good Faith Claims Handling.
• Prepare necessary Large Loss Reports and Trial Alerts.
• Engage in professional liability industry organizations and attend instructional seminars for Continuing Education (CE) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits.
• Communicate and interact effectively with all internal and external stakeholders to foster a professional and positive business environment, ensuring that Skyward’s goals and objectives are met.
• Perform additional duties as required due to changes, growth, and ongoing improvement.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as an adjuster in Professional Liability, Miscellaneous E&O, Allied Health, Architects and Engineers policies, and/or professional liability insurance defense or coverage experience in a law firm.
• A JD is preferred for candidates but not mandatory.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven experience in effectively managing a substantial workload of primary and excess professional liability claims.
• Highly organized and efficient in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment; capable of prioritizing tasks to achieve objectives creatively and enthusiastically, with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of state and civil laws, claims practices, and regulatory standards.
• Proven capacity to manage litigated files across multiple jurisdictions.
• Established ability to lead and uphold high standards of claims management performance, quality, and compliance.
• Proven skill in analyzing coverage and drafting coverage letters on complex issues.
• Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
• Excellent influencing and negotiation skills; proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across teams, stakeholders, and providers.
• Experience in attending and participating in Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADRs) and mediations, leading to successful and timely claim resolutions.
• Willingness to travel periodically.
