This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct virtual and on-site investigations at the residences of policyholders.
• Assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Utilize claims handling software to assess damage and prepare estimates in a paperless setting.
• Identify and report potential subrogation opportunities.
• Notify appropriate state and industry agencies regarding incidents of theft, fraud, or arson.
• Execute responsibilities independently, significantly influencing management outcomes.
• Represent the company in a professional manner during public interactions.
• Interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, and medical professionals.
• Engage in negotiations with policyholders to settle claims.
• Advocate for safety and adhere to company safety and ergonomic standards.
• Travel away from home for catastrophe deployments, typically lasting 23 days.
• Execute required duties both in the field and in a home office environment.
• A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Exceptional customer service experience, preferably acquired in a retail setting.
• Experience in construction or insurance is highly desirable and preferred.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer applications: MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Skilled in using smartphones and applications.
• A strong willingness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Valid driver's license is essential.
• Must be bondable.
• Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check.
• Must be willing and able to climb ladders and work on rooftops multiple times daily.
• Must be willing and able to navigate small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
• Required to achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training examinations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Proficient in English for speaking, reading, writing, and data entry.
• Willingness to commit to 1–3 catastrophe deployments annually.
• Candidates are required to reside in the greater Buffalo, NY area.
