This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Manage a portfolio of intricate, high-exposure CGL claims independently, including litigated cases across various jurisdictions.
• Perform comprehensive investigations and prompt coverage analysis, applying policy language to facts to guide strategy and communication with stakeholders.
• Analyze complex indemnity and hold harmless agreements, assess additional insured coverage, recognize priority of coverage issues, and utilize risk transfer strategies.
• Assess liability and damages, while establishing and maintaining suitable indemnity and expense reserves throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Direct and implement litigation strategy by collaborating with and guiding defense counsel through discovery, mediation, arbitration, and trial processes.
• Negotiate and resolve high-severity claims to ensure equitable, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
• Identify and explore opportunities for risk transfer and subrogation.
• Work alongside internal partners and external experts to facilitate claim resolution, analyze trends, and improve claim outcomes.
• Keep compliant and well-documented claim files.
• Effectively communicate with insureds, brokers, and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
• Act as a technical resource and mentor to enhance capabilities throughout the claims organization.
• 5–10+ years of experience in casualty claims with an insurance carrier, specifically dealing with complex, high-severity, and litigated CGL claims.
• Experience managing claims with substantial exposure ($250K–$1M+).
• Demonstrated ability to lead litigation strategy and negotiate high-value settlements.
• In-depth knowledge of coverage interpretation and multi-jurisdictional legal frameworks.
• Strong financial acumen, covering reserving, expense management, and control of indemnity.
• Capability to make independent decisions and exercise significant authority on complex claims.
• Proven analytical reasoning and planning & execution abilities.
• Strong customer-centric approach along with persuasion and influence skills.
• High level of digital fluency and professional insurance knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Active adjuster licenses or the ability to obtain them.
• Industry designations (CPCU, AIC, SCLA) or JD are advantageous.
• Full-time, exempt position.
