
Senior CGL Claims Technical Consultant – Litigation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Manage a diverse portfolio of intricate, high-risk Commercial General Liability claims independently, encompassing litigated premises liability, operational, and product liability issues across various jurisdictions.
• Perform comprehensive investigations and prompt coverage assessments.
• Analyze complex indemnity and hold harmless agreements.
• Assess additional insured coverage and prioritize coverage concerns.
• Utilize risk transfer strategies to reduce exposure in multi-party, litigated CGL claims.
• Assess liability and damages while establishing and maintaining indemnity and expense reserves.
• Spearhead litigation strategies and guide defense counsel through discovery, mediation, arbitration, and trial phases.
• Negotiate and resolve high-severity claims to ensure equitable, timely, and cost-effective resolutions.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for risk transfer and subrogation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external experts to facilitate claim resolution and analyze trends.
• Ensure compliant, well-organized claim files are maintained.
• Engage with insured parties, brokers, and stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Act as a technical resource and mentor to enhance the overall claims organization.
• 5–10+ years of experience in casualty claims within an insurance carrier, particularly with complex, high-severity, and litigated CGL claims.
• Proficiency in managing claims with significant exposure ($250K–$1M+).
• Demonstrated ability to lead litigation strategies and negotiate substantial settlements.
• Advanced understanding of coverage interpretation and legal frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong financial insight, including reserving, expense management, and indemnity oversight.
• Capability to make independent decisions and exercise high levels of authority on complex claims.
• Proven skills in Analytical Reasoning and Planning & Execution.
• Established Customer Centricity and Persuasion & Influence abilities.
• Strong Digital Fluency and Professional Insurance Knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Active adjuster licenses or the ability to obtain them.
• Industry certifications (CPCU, AIC, SCLA) or a JD are advantageous.
• Full-time, exempt position.
