
Senior Business Development Manager β Oil & Gas

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Identify, target, and engage key decision-makers β including Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering leadership β at Directional Drilling companies and Operators throughout Western Canada.
β’ Develop and sustain a strong pipeline of active opportunities through direct outreach, relationship building, and strategic account planning.
β’ Conduct high-level commercial discussions that effectively position WZL's value proposition and result in awarded contracts.
β’ Obtain new vendor approvals, preferred supplier agreements, and long-term supply commitments.
β’ Manage existing key accounts to safeguard and increase revenue, ensuring decision-makers stay engaged with WZL.
β’ Collaborate closely with WZL's Sales and Engineering leadership to align customer requirements with our capabilities and resources.
β’ Maintain current and accurate pipeline data in CRM (HubSpot), including clear deal stages, contact records, and projected close dates.
β’ Provide regular market intelligence regarding competitor activities, customer transitions, and emerging opportunities in the WCSB.
β’ Represent WZL at selected industry events, conferences, and customer-hosted meetings where access to executives is warranted.
β’ A minimum of 8 years of business development or commercial sales experience within the Oil & Gas sector.
β’ Established, active relationships with decision-makers at Directional Drilling companies and/or Operators β this is an essential requirement, not an optional one.
β’ Proven ability to open doors, build trust at the executive level, and convert relationships into awarded contracts.
β’ Strong commercial insight β you understand how purchasing decisions are made and how to navigate that process.
β’ Experience in managing a pipeline of concurrent opportunities with diverse timelines and deal structures.
β’ Proficiency in CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
β’ Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
β’ Must reside in Calgary, Alberta; this is a remote position reporting to WZL's Edmonton headquarters.
