This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Foster a robust customer-focused culture at WGL Energy by effectively understanding and conveying customer needs, expectations, and decision-making processes.
• Seek out, pursue, and finalize new direct customer opportunities within assigned markets and segments.
• Oversee the entire sales cycle for both new and renewal customers—this includes prospecting, qualifying, pricing strategy, negotiating deals, and executing contracts.
• Maintain a strong sales pipeline and consistently achieve or surpass margin targets.
• Establish, onboard, and enhance relationships with both new and existing energy brokers, consultants, and aggregators.
• Act as the primary liaison for broker partners—recognizing their needs, communication styles, customer bases, and market dynamics.
• Position the organization as a preferred supplier by addressing specific broker requirements.
• Collaborate with brokers to create joint sales strategies that boost win rates and fortify long-term partnerships.
• Analyze customer load profiles, risk tolerances, and product requirements to develop competitive retail energy solutions.
• Identify and promote new product opportunities that align with the evolving needs of customers and partners.
• Provide insights to senior leadership regarding market conditions, product enhancements, pricing structures, and broker performance.
• Assist sales support and customer service teams to ensure a seamless onboarding process, effective issue resolution, and ongoing customer satisfaction.
• Represent WGL Energy at market-specific conferences and industry events.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in retail energy sales, business development, or channel management.
• A proven history of selling electricity and/or natural gas in competitive retail energy markets.
• Established relationships with energy brokers and/or demonstrated success in developing new channel partnerships.
• In-depth knowledge of deregulated energy markets, pricing components, load shapes, and forward markets.
• Capability to create and deliver formal presentations to internal and external audiences.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation capabilities.
• Strong consultative selling skills with the aptitude to uncover customer needs and craft tailored solutions.
• Proven ability to thrive under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and maintain high energy and motivation levels.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with a demonstrated capacity to collaborate across functions and influence without authority.
• High emotional resilience and robust interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate trust and long-term relationships with customers, partners, and internal teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
