Senior Business Data Analyst – Learning Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee data management, analysis, and reporting within the Learning Systems ecosystem.

• Manage data across platforms including Moodle and its plugins, Accipio, Zoom, and PMA.

• Ensure data integrity, reliability, accessibility, and suitability for intended purposes.

• Identify and implement enhancements to data and processes.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend business requirements and convert them into actionable technical solutions.

• Enhance data quality and readiness.

• Strengthen system integrations.

• Create dashboards and improve reporting capabilities.

• Provide decision-makers with relevant, timely, and reliable information.

• Address complex data challenges by offering expert advice and recommendations.

• Manage various activities and projects with little oversight.

• Partner with senior stakeholders, business analysts, and technical teams to pinpoint process deficiencies.

• Supervise the execution of data and process enhancements.

• Encourage compliance with data standards, reporting mandates, and applicable policies.

• Identify and mitigate data risks.

• Develop tools and methodologies for business analysis.

• Enhance consistency and efficiency across business analysis tasks.

• Coordinate business analysis activities to promote collaboration and ongoing improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in data analysis, management, and quality, including data mapping, process improvement identification, and resolution of complex data challenges.

• Strong practical knowledge of learning systems, preferably Moodle, though alternatives will be considered.

• In-depth understanding of business analysis methodologies and techniques, encompassing requirements gathering, stakeholder workshops, user stories, use cases, and process mapping.

• Proven experience leading complex data analysis efforts, translating business needs into technical specifications, assessing solutions, and providing evidence-based recommendations.

• Familiarity with testing methodologies, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to derive meaningful insights from incomplete or conflicting datasets.

• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing abilities.

• Capacity to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and negotiate outcomes with senior stakeholders.

• Proficiency in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic IT or data environment.

• Ability to work autonomously and lead initiatives with minimal supervision.

• Capacity to provide guidance, share expertise, and uphold consistent business analysis standards.

• Practical understanding of data governance, legal and regulatory obligations, information security, and GDPR.

• Strong hands-on knowledge of Moodle, its plugins, and related learning systems, preferably in higher education (desirable).

• Qualifications in ITIL Foundation, Business Analysis, or Project Management such as PRINCE2 or AgilePM (desirable).

• Data-related certifications or training in GDPR, information security, or DLP (desirable).

• Familiarity with Azure, Fabric, AWS, TOGAF, or change management frameworks (desirable).

• Experience in delivering data initiatives within the Higher Education sector (desirable).

• Background working with IT architects to implement policies and standards (desirable).

• Experience supporting strategic initiatives and engaging with senior stakeholders (desirable).
