Senior Backend Software Engineer – Core Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Ensure the stability of the API server codebase while enhancing the developer experience.

• Provide support for frameworks and SDKs that form the foundation of GameChanger’s development.

• Implement modifications to APIs and SDKs to enable efficient server/client communication.

• Introduce coding practices and tools aimed at improving developer ergonomics.

• Identify inefficiencies within the backend codebase and implement improvements.

• Design and redesign essential system components as the systems evolve and scale.

• Learn and disseminate engineering best practices throughout the organization.

• Collaborate with both internal and external colleagues on application architecture and implementation strategies.

• Investigate challenges related to scaling, security, and architecture.

• Participate in an occasional on-call rotation as part of the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of software development experience, particularly with successful TypeScript and Node.js projects.

• At least 2 years of experience in writing scalable, testable, and high-performance server-side code.

• A minimum of 2 years creating project breakdowns and technical documentation for teammates with diverse expertise levels.

• A willingness to mentor and train others, collaborating with different teams through documentation and live sessions.

• Proficiency with version control and CI/CD systems such as GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Must reside in the United States, with the exception of AK, DE, HI, IA, LA, MS, MT, OK, and SC.
