Senior Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Independent Implementation: Oversee the complete software development lifecycle for intricate features, which includes the implementation, thorough testing, and debugging of robust code.

• Technical Leadership: Spearhead the technical delivery of projects, shaping architectural decisions and ensuring that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business objectives.

• Mentorship & Guidance: Actively mentor junior and intermediate engineers by providing constructive feedback through code reviews and documentation to foster their professional growth.

• Operational Excellence: Proactively identify operational risks and control deficiencies, leading discussions on system redundancy, disaster recovery, and service availability.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Frontend Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to create cohesive, user-centric solutions.

• Process Innovation: Recognize opportunities for automation and propose UI improvements to enhance the overall user experience and internal delivery efficiency.

• Expert Java Foundation: Extensive experience with Java and a profound understanding of core programming principles and best practices. Proven expertise in Spring Boot for developing scalable microservices and experience managing data with MongoDB.

• Enterprise Experience: A proven history of working on enterprise-level software systems that demand high reliability and performance.

• Architectural Vision: Capability to design and implement innovative architectures that balance immediate value with long-term sustainability.

• Quality Focused: A strong commitment to delivering testable, observable, and maintainable code.

• Preferred Experience: High-Traffic Systems: Experience in designing and maintaining systems that manage high volumes of traffic and concurrent connections. Open Source Passion: A demonstrated enthusiasm for contributing to or utilizing open-source technologies. UI/UX Awareness: A keen eye for user interface enhancements and the ability to engage in frontend-related technical discussions. Infrastructure & Cloud: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and containerization tools like Jenkins, Docker, or Kubernetes.
